Each year, Peninsula Grammar honours the memory of past staff member, Jason Hammond who passed away in 2013, hosting a Football match against Ivanhoe on the Harry MacDonald oval.
Jason was an incredible colleague, friend, mentor, teacher and coach to so many of our past students and staff and inspired students in a way that made everyone feel connected to him, long after they left school. He was funny and authentic, loved music and footy, and could adapt his teaching/coaching style in a way that could relate and include all students in his lessons. The Hammond Cup was played on Friday the 31st of March against Ivanhoe with the whole school and Jason's family in attendance. Led by alumni and PGS football coach Nathan Jones '05 (who was coached himself by Jason when he was at school), the PGS 1sts put in an epic battle on the field and whilst it wasn't a win this year, we were immensely proud to see the community coming together to support this event and honouring the incredible lasting legacy of 'Hammo'.
