Old Peninsula Football Club - New coach announcement
OPFC is excited to announce Brendan Dunne, Class of 2004 as the new Senior Coach of the Old Peninsula Football Club!
Brendan brings impressive MPNFL credentials, having captained and coached Hastings to a 2016 Premiership and led Karingal to two grand finals in 2011 and 2019. Most recently, he served as caretaker coach at Hastings in 2024 and has twice been named MPNFL Coach of the Year. Brendan also spent the past four years coaching Mt Eliza Juniors.
A familiar face to Peninsula Grammar, Brendan captained the First XVIII in 2004 and played senior football for the Pirates in 2003-2004 before spending four years at Frankston VFL.
“I’m thrilled to coach the Pirates. The committee’s vision and passion are impressive, and I see great potential here. Our goal is to create a strong culture connecting players, supporters, and volunteers. I’m eager to link the past with the present and see everyone engage fully in this journey,” Brendan said.
Pirate President Alex Wood praised Brendan’s passion and commitment to football, saying, “His love for the game and dedication to our club is evident. We couldn’t be more excited.”
Joining Brendan will be Phil Stone as assistant coach, who has been a key part of Brendan’s coaching career. Additionally, Steven Kidd, who served as caretaker coach in the latter half of 2024, will stay on as an assistant coach for 2025. We’re grateful for his support and look forward to his continued contributions.
The committee will organise a meet-and-greet for all players and supporters to welcome Brendan and Phil in the coming weeks. They are already hard at work planning for 2025!
