As we approach the end of first term 2024, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable term we have just been through. It is with great joy and gratitude that I reach out to you, our esteemed alumni, to share some thoughts and updates from your alma mater.
First and foremost, I hope this message finds you well and thriving in your endeavours. Wherever life has taken you since your time at Peninsula, please know that you are always a cherished member of our community. This term has been filled with moments of growth, learning, and connection. Our current students have continued to demonstrate resilience, creativity, and a thirst for knowledge, embodying the values instilled in them during their time at our school. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or on the stage, they have excelled and inspired us with their passion and dedication.
Foundation Day is a time when our community comes together to celebrate and acknowledge both the history of the School and the future scholars. This year our service included the presentation of the Benefactors and Founders book whilst also celebrating the high achievers Class of 2023.
A highlight of Term One was once again our Senior School Production. The performance of Chicago at the Frankston Arts Centre over 3 nights was a resounding success, providing a platform to showcase the extraordinary talent of our Senior students. Some members of our alumni may remember our previous performance of Chicago in 2002. We were delighted that alumnus Angela Scundi from the 2002 production was able to come and meet with our 2024 cast prior to their performance.
We welcomed Stephen Brennan back to ‘turn the soil’ on the Brennan oval as commencement of our new athletics track took place. The completed facilities will include a fully synthetic athletics track with six lanes and competition jumping and throwing areas, as well as a fully synthetic soccer pitch on the inside of the track. The project is due for completion in March 2025.
As alumni, you are an integral part of our school's legacy. Your achievements, contributions, and ongoing support serve as a testament to the transformative power of education. We take immense pride in your accomplishments and celebrate the diverse paths you have chosen to pursue.
Looking ahead, we are excited about the opportunities that lie on the horizon. Our commitment to excellence in education remains unwavering, guided by a shared vision of fostering intellectual curiosity, ethical leadership, and social responsibility.
I invite you to stay connected with us and continue to be actively involved in the life of our school. Whether through mentorship, or attending alumni events, your presence and participation make a difference.
In closing, I extend my warmest wishes to you and your families.
Stuart
