Each Friday across our social media channels, OPGA share photos or videos from archives with our alumni followers. We encourage all alumni and the school community to follow OPGA and to join us in reminiscing about memorable events in our School’s history. We love hearing your stories as they bring life and perspective to what we share!
Flashback Friday - Shane Warne (shared 8 April)
Every year, Peter and Patricia Draper (long serving staff members) ran football, basketball, tennis and cricket camps. Overseas and local test cricketers who were playing in Melbourne often frequented the cricket camps. These photos show Shane Warne, who on the second day of the camp was told by our school secretary that he had been selected to play in the Test in Sydney. Also pictured is Gary Cosier, a well known cricketer from the 70's.
Joel Williams '99 comments 'Thanks Peter for organizing these amazing camps! I remember this day very well! Shane was running late and forgot to bring the autograph sheet from both Australian and Indian teams. Eventually got them to us! Great experience will never forget! Especially facing a famous Shane Warne delivery!'
