Alumni Guest Speakers

We continue to be amazed at the talent, achievements and broad personal and professional experiences of our alumni. Despite recent lock downs in 2021, OPGA were able to welcome over 30 alumni speakers back to the school for various virtual guest presentations. Thank you to all who participated!

We are already looking for speakers for 2022 for the Year 9 Pathways Program (career focused) and PSL (Personal, Social, Learning) Program where we are looking for inspirational stories to share with our students. If you would like to be a guest speaker in 2022, please sign up here!

Claudia Whitfort ('17) and Principal, Stuart Johnston

In October, some of our AFL star alumni dropped in for a virtual chat with our principal, Mr Stuart Johnston. Lachie Whitfield ('12), Jacob Weitering ('15) and Claudia Whitfort ('17) spoke about their journey so far, and gave inspirational advice to all aspiring young footballers. Will ('09) and Sam ('09) Phillips

Some of our junior, middle and pre-senior school leaders were lucky to have a Q&A session with Tokyo Olympians, Sam Phillips ('09) and brother Will Phillips ('05). Our students asked the star sporting alumni a range of questions about their Olympic experience and the preparation involved to represent Australia at the highest level in sport. They also wanted to know what House they were in at school! The interview was recorded and shared with all students.

Thank you to Sam and Will for giving your time to chat with the students and congratulations on your incredible achievements.

Andrew Fickling ('91)

As part of Science and STEM week, Andrew Fickling '91 joined middle school students virtually from Adelaide, to discuss his incredible career in the Royal Australian Air Force and then as an Engineering Test Pilot, working on Global business jets, electric air taxis and more! OPGA and the students were in awe of Andrew's career story with many reaching out to their teachers after the session about becoming a pilot!

Thank you Andrew for inspiring our students and for your sharing what a rewarding career can look like in STEM.
