60th Anniversary Celebration
What an amazing afternoon Saturday the 2nd of April was, as we celebrated and honoured Peninsula's 60 years of inspired education! With 120 guests in attendance including foundation students, early years alumni, long-serving staff and supporters, the event was certainly one to remember. Celebrations kicked off with a feature musical item from the school's 'Soul Funk' band, including six wonderfully talented students from Years 10 and 12. Their music set the tone for a fun afternoon with many memories shared over a three-course lunch in the Harry Macdonald Pavilion.
It was wonderful to one of our third generation families in attendance, Peter Wallace (whom the P.J Wallace Cup is named after!) and his wife Carol, Cameron and Geraldine Wallace and their children Molly '20 and Harry '23.
OPGA would like to thank Reverend Tanya Cummings from The Anglican Church of Mount Eliza for her welcome blessing and prayer, Stuart Johnston and David Clarke for their warm welcome speeches on behalf of Peninsula Grammar and OPGA and of course our guest speakers including Neil Chapple (long serving staff member), Paul Spottiswood '65, Greg Sugars '85 and Sam McMillan '01, all of whom brought warmth and humour to the room with stories and memories of their Peninsula days.
OPGA also honoured Robert 'Bob' Arthur '68, who has been pivotal in keeping early years students connected and reunions well attended over the last 10 years. Bob's support has been invaluable to OPGA and remains a much loved and respected member of the association.
We look forward to many more celebratory events in 2022, including the Past Staff Morning Tea on the 13th of August and upcoming reunions. Please go to our events page to book your tickets!
